Turkey and tinsel in Hemel Hempstead

This afternoon we are just up the road from where we live providing a Christmas dinner for the residents of a local old age pensioners club in Hemel Hempstead.
Christmas has started a few weeks early for the senior citizens at their weekly club and they all turned up with the Christmas hats they had made the week before and all looked in good spirits for the festive treat.
On a usual Tuesday afternoon, its cards and teas and coffees followed by bingo but today they rolled back the years and were singing Christmas carols and drinking wine and sherry.
All of a sudden a bell rang and in walked Father Christmas….. They cheered with delight and were all given a small present.
Confetti Event Catering had prepared a traditional Christmas dinner while they partied. The tables had been laid with festive table cloths and crackers and the hall looked grand.
Our waitresses served piping hot vegetable soup and warm rolls for starters as they were pulling crackers, telling jokes and playing charades. This was followed by free range turkey with all the trimmings…. beautiful crisp golden roast potatoes, bread sauce and cranberries with carrots, crunchy sweet Brussels sprouts and was served with lovely homemade turkey gravy.
Everyone was in good spirit and they were really knocking back the wine…. We joked that some of them may get stopped on the way home on their mobility scooters!!
We finished off the festive treat with Christmas pudding, mince pies, fresh double cream and brandy butter.
It was lovely to see them all so happy and jolly and they really enjoy the early Christmas dinner.
While we were clearing up, some children from a local school arrived and sang Christmas carols which was really lovely. It was a great day and good to see the club having so much fun.
